2. Achievements of the political declaration


a. Preventive measures
Good practices, gaps, challenges, obstacles and way forward in the achievement of the commitments contained in the section of the UNGASS political declaration on preventive measures. This item will be introduced by a panel discussion on topics such as: strengthening
evidence-based anti-corruption policies and strategies, and the different impact of corruption on men and women.


b. Criminalization and law enforcement
Good practices, gaps, challenges, obstacles and way forward in the achievement of the commitments contained in the section of the UNGASS political declaration on criminalization and law enforcement. This item will be introduced by a panel discussion on topics such as: criminalizing, detecting and enforcing domestic and foreign bribery.


c. International cooperation
Good practices, gaps, challenges, obstacles and way forward in the achievement of the commitments contained in the section of the UNGASS political declaration on international cooperation. This item will be introduced by a panel discussion on topics such as: Effective and timely communication for advancing international cooperation, including by making use of existing regional and international networks, denying safe haven for those responsible for corruption and ensuring the widest possible measure of mutual legal assistance.


d. Asset recovery
Good practices, gaps, challenges, obstacles and way forward in the achievement of the commitments contained in the section of the UNGASS political declaration on asset recovery. This item will be introduced by a panel discussion on topics such as: Available tools for
recovery and return of assets and proceeds of crime, such as conviction-based and nonconviction-based confiscation, as well as direct recovery mechanisms.


e. Technical assistance and information exchange
Good practices, gaps, challenges, obstacles and way forward in the achievement of the commitments contained in the section of the UNGASS political declaration on technical assistance and information exchange. This item will be introduced by a panel discussion on topics such as: fostering technical assistance through bilateral, regional and multilateral cooperation, and progress made in
developing a comprehensive, scientifically sound and objective statistical framework to Conference of the States Parties to the UN Convention against Corruption at its ninth session support States in their efforts to measure corruption, its impact and all relevant aspects of preventing and combating it.


f. Anti-corruption as an enabler for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development
Good practices, gaps, challenges, obstacles and way forward in the achievement of the commitments contained in the section of the UNGASS political declaration on anticorruption as an enabler for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This item will be introduced by a panel discussion on topics such as: mainstreaming transparency, fostering public awareness including through training and education activities, and anti-corruption as a cross-cutting enabler for the broader development
agenda.


g. Advancing a forward-looking anti-corruption agenda and framework
Good practices, gaps, challenges, obstacles and way forward in the achievement of the commitments contained in the section of the UNGASS political declaration on advancing a forward-looking anti-corruption agenda and framework. This item will be introduced by a panel discussion on topics such as: leveraging synergies between the achievement of the commitments of the political declaration and the
implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption.
