Dear Civil Society Representatives,
We are pleased to invite you to a briefing on the 2024 UN Civil Society Conference which will be held in Nairobi, Kenya from 9 to 10 May 2024.
The briefing will take place on 29 February 2024 from 3 to 4 p.m. (CET) online. Register here.
In September 2024 the UN General Assembly will hold a Summit of the Future, a once-in-a-generation opportunity to enhance cooperation on critical challenges and address gaps in global governance, reaffirm existing commitments including to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the United Nations Charter, and move towards a reinvigorated multilateral system that is better positioned to positively impact people’s lives. Building on the SDG Summit in 2023, Member States will consider ways to lay the foundations for a more effective global cooperation that can address today’s challenges as well as new threats in the future. As part of the preparatory process a Civil Society Conference will be held in Nairobi.
The briefing will be an opportunity to inform you about the Conference, how it relates to the preparatory process for the Summit of the Future, and how you can participate and contribute. The Conference will adopt a declaration by civil society representatives, reflecting their views and perspective on the draft Pact for the Future, of which the Zero Draft has been published.
This briefing will be held in English only, with no interpretation. Please register to receive the link to the briefing.
