Call for Applications: Ad Hoc Committee for a new UN convention on countering the use of information and communication technologies for criminal purposes

Opportunity for civil society organizations to register to join the negotiation process for a new UN convention on countering the use of information and communication technologies for criminal purposes, deadline 1 December 2021. 
The UNODC has published a call for applications to participate in the Ad Hoc Committee to Elaborate a Comprehensive International Convention on Countering the Use of Information and Communications Technologies for Criminal Purposes, which was established in accordance with General Assembly resolution 74/247 of 27 December 2019, entitled “Countering the use of information and communications technologies for criminal purposes” and will hold its first session in New York on 17-28 January 2022.  Subsequent sessions will be held in Vienna and New York throughout 2022 and 2023. 
The new negotiation process could have major implications globally, and its therefore vital that civil society organizations contribute with their expertise and evidence throughout the process. NGOs with ECOSOC status can register with the Secretariat to attend, and others without this status can also apply and a list of applications will be presented to the Ad-Hoc Committee for their approval.
