Gender-based violence as torture inflicted by non-state actors

19 May, 2022

The aim of this side event is to recommend a declaration that addresses torture by non-State actors as a model strategy to promote global awareness to end non-State torture crimes against women and girls. Speakers will make presentations defining torture by non-state actors against women and girls, providing examples, reporting on the existing domestic laws and international regulations, connecting with the international framework of standards and norms and the Kyoto Declaration, also identifying gaps and needs for more explicitly addressing gender-based violence in existing international instruments.
