Location: M7 and online
01 Jun 2026, 16:30 - 17:30 (GMT+1)

Join us for an interactive discussion with Member States, experts, and civil society representatives on addressing critical gaps in the international legal framework for Crimes that Affect the Environment and exploring pathways for a potential new UNTOC protocol.

Objectives:

  • Present the legal, operational, and political priorities for a possible UNTOC protocol to prevent and combat CAE;
  • Facilitate an exchange of views among Member States, practitioners, and experts on the scope and design of a possible protocol;
  • Between the CCPCJ, the UN Crime Congress (September 2026) and the UNTOC Conference of the Parties (COP) (October 2026), continue to build momentum toward a potential new instrument.
  • Identify and address questions and concerns raised during the UNTOC Intergovernmental Expert Group on CAE.

The meeting will be held in a hybrid format on 1 June from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. CET.
