Civil society priorities for the CCPCJ, Crime Congress, UNTOC COP and beyond

Event description 
This side event will bring present a diverse range of civil society priorities for action to be taken forward at the Crime Congress, UNTOC COP, and beyond. The preparatory process for the 15th UN Crime Congress had included a broad range of civil society inputs, in line with the Congress’ mandate and past practice. And the number of registered participants for this Congress has been extremely high, in comparison to past events, demonstrating the increased interest from and action by civil society on crime prevention and criminal justice around the world. At the same time, the 13th UNTOC COP will take place in October 2026, two years after the adoption of the first ever civil society declaration on more effective implementation of the UNTOC, and record levels of civil society participation. With a future focus, this event will present key priorities and recommendations for future action from a diverse range of civil society participants, selected by the Alliance through an open call for speakers. Speakers will be drawn from civil society participants at the CCPCJ, complemented by key Member State representatives.

The meeting will be held in a hybrid format on 1 June from 3 to 4 pm CET; however, speakers’ in-person participation is preferred.
