The 14th UN Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice

The Unites Nations Crime Congress will take place on 7-12 March in Kyoto. Invitations to UN entities and bodies, IGOs and NGOs were sent out by UNODC on 6 December, the Secretariat will issue information about the process of registration for the new dates. Check the Congress page for ancillary meetings here.

On 11 December 2019, the Informal Meeting of the Alliance for Vienna-based Representatives of International NGOs, Jo Dedeyne-Amann, Chief of the Secretariat of the Governing Bodies, UNODC, provided a very comprehensive overview of the 14th Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice and shared some initial information on preparations and participation, especially as regards non-governmental organizations. See the Presentation from UNODC

The 2021 Kyoto Congress will adopt a structure similar to the one held in Doha in 2015. The overarching theme will be Advancing crime prevention, criminal justice and the rule of law: towards the achievement of the 2030 Agenda. The work of the Congress is organized in high level segments, workshops and high level side events The Kyoto Declaration will be the only outcome document negotiated by Member States, to be adopted at the opening of the High-Level Segment of the Congress.
