BEIJING+25: Realizing Gender Equality and the Empowerment of all Women and Girls
The Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) and the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ) were holding a virtual event commemorating the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women and the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (1995) and discussing how the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting women and girls.
The event took place virtually on Friday, 12 June, starting at 3.00 p.m. Vienna Time (CEST). The event was webcasted to make sure everyone who is interested was able to follow the discussion here: https://www.unodc.org/unodc/en/commissions/beijing-plus-25.html.
This was the first public CCPCJ event that was held virtually, and enabled civil society participation within the technological limits, the Alliance was invited to make a statement, which was submitted by the Chair, and to nominate three civil society organizations to submit their statements and make a brief intervention during the event, if time permits.
