Call for applications to the 10th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention against Transnational Organized Crime, see their message below.

Dear NGO representatives,

We are pleased to inform you that the Tenth Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (COP UNTOC) will be held from 12 to 16 October 2020 in Vienna, Austria. This intergovernmental Conference will discuss, among other things, the implementation of the Convention and its three Protocols, namely the Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons; the Protocol against the Smuggling of Migrants by Land, Sea and Air; and the Protocol against the Illicit Manufacturing of and Trafficking in Firearms.

Considering the area of work of your Organization, you may be interested in participating as an observer, in line with Rule 17 of the Rules of Procedure of the Conference of the Parties (attached).

Interested non-governmental organizations (NGOs) without ECOSOC consultative status, as per paragraph 2 of rule 17, are welcome to apply by filling out the attached contact details form and writing an application letter (in English only) and returning them both to unodc-ngounit@un.org by midnight Vienna time Friday 8th of May 2020. We recommend that you apply upon receiving this call, even if your participation is not yet certain, as there will not be the possibility to apply at a later stage. Please note that the application letter should be placed on a letterhead of your organization and signed by the Head of your organization. The contact form should be filled out in Word format (not pdf or fax) so as to facilitate a timely processing of all requests. Please note that forms submitted in other formats will not be considered.

NGOs with ECOSOC consultative status will also have to express their interest by 8 May 2020 to the Secretariat of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (untoc.cop@unodc.org) and will receive an invitation in due course.

We regret to inform you that UNODC does not have funding for your travel to and accommodation in Vienna. Therefore, you are advised to arrange your own funding as appropriate.

We look forward to receiving your applications by midnight Vienna time Friday 8th of May 2020.

Thank you and stay healthy in these challenging times,
